Greetings, on this New Moon in Pisces. Raise your hand if you’re in your FEELS today. 🙋🏼‍♀‍

I am taking some down time after a long busy week. I have been pushing myself hard all week to juggle several upcoming projects including the online summit that I am hosting in April. These are all projects that I enjoy and want to do, and yet they require a significant energetic input.

Just yesterday I had the pleasure of speaking with my dear friend James-Olivia Chu Hillman about the practice of right relationship.

(Our conversation will air as part of the Embracing Your Earth Journey online summit that will be launching on April 7! Click here to pre-register now.)

And one of the things that I've learned from James-Olivia and their work is that to be in right relationship there has to be room for me. This applies to the relationships I have with myself and with others.

Later on, I was working on a moon message video for you and it was feeling hard—really hard. I felt exhausted and uninspired. Getting this video done seemed to require that I forced myself.

As I mentioned in my last moon message for the full moon in Leo, I've learned that my creative process does not respond well to force, pressure or any other violent energy. Attempting to control and force someone or something to be different doesn’t leave room for them to be as they are.

So today, I'm practicing self-acceptance and taking the pressure off myself to produce a video. I also decided to let myself cancel plans I had with another dear friend in favor of recharging and tending to myself.

Some intense self-judgment has come up about both these decisions to take care of myself. And I realized that this is just one expression of the internalized violence that I have from my family of origin and from growing up in toxic cultures of capitalism, white supremacy and patriarchy.

What I learned from this culture is that I’m supposed to codependently take care of others, while abandoning myself. I’m also only valuable to the extent I perform and produce, so I have an attachment to productivity and output while devaluing rest and self-care.

I’ve been able to see this more clearly as I've been reading Caliban and the Witch by Silvia Federici. It’s a fascinating and mind-expanding historical analysis that links the rise of capitalism with the witch trials in Europe, and shows how capitalism requires systemic violence against women, other marginalized folx, and anyone who resisted. Capitalism relies on extraction of labor and resources from living beings, which must then be assigned value so they can be traded as a commodity. It also exerts control through pressure, punishment, and dehumanization.

Today's New Moon in spiritual Pisces trines with the North Node in Cancer illuminates the way forward: practicing grace, compassion, and gentleness.

Liberatory shockwaves from Uranus in Taurus in a trine to Mars in Capricorn are disrupting and evolving the ways we’ve traditionally (and systemically) valued our desire, our will, and our energy.

Meanwhile Chiron in Aries squares Mars, inviting us to confront our wounding around our right to exist and take up space, especially if we do not conform to the cultural standards of worth and value. Venus in Aries is also squaring Jupiter in Capricorn, pitting the individual against the system.

How do you want to express your individual will and way of being human in your world today?

Are you willing to choose yourself, to belong to yourself?

Checking in with myself now, I'm feeling pulled to take a walk outside and enjoy the sunshine and the fresh air on this unseasonably warm day. I'm choosing to gift myself this simple pleasure of moving my body and opening to sensory relationship with all of life.

I invite you to consider how you can offer yourself some grace today. Not because it’s the “good” or “right” thing to do; because it’s your birthright to live and thrive.

Wishing you peace, connection, and joy.
